I can't wait for the detransitioner lawsuits to bankrupt the Frankenstein doctors and hospitals participating in this Mengele-like barbarism. The doctors should lose their licenses and spend years in prison for ruining the lives of the confused people who believe their lies.
I'm sure that if children said "tidepodophore" was a gender, then Boston Children's would support them in eating tide pods to be their authentic selves.
You may be aware that in states across the country there is a recent increase in proposed legislation aiming to restrict the rights of transgender and gender diverse youth. Many of these bills aim to restrict access to medical care and limit children and adolescents who identify as gender diverse from participation in sports.
Boston Children’s Hospital has always been and always will be committed to providing the best care for ALL of our patients, regardless of their gender identity. The belief that all children deserve the opportunity to live, grow and thrive with love and support, is foundational to who we are and what we do.
At Boston Children’s, we are proud to be home to the first pediatric and adolescent transgender health program in the United States, the Gender Multispecialty Service (GeMS), which has cared for more than 1,000 families to date. We believe in a gender-affirmative model of care, which supports transgender and gender diverse youth in the gender in which they identify. This is a standard of care grounded in scientific evidence, demonstrating its benefits to the health and well-being of transgender and gender diverse youth. In addition to supporting our patients and families, we stand with our colleagues who may identify as transgender or gender diverse, those who provide care to transgender youth and who are allies to the transgender community.
The proposed bans on medical care, sports participation and other legislation aiming to restrict the rights of transgender and gender diverse youth are in direct opposition to our commitment to equity, diversity and inclusivity, as well as the standard of care that we live by. Here in Massachusetts, we have been fortunate—there has not yet been movement on any of these initiatives. You may recall that in 2016, Massachusetts voters upheld legislation designed to protect the rights of transgender residents in public accommodations. Boston Children’s was proud to be part of the coalition that worked in support of that ballot question.
I also want to let you know that Boston Children’s has signed on as an endorsing organization of the Equality Act, which is federal legislation that would provide affirmative, legal nondiscrimination protections for LGBTQ Americans both in the workplace and the community by adding sexual orientation and gender identity to the list of protected characteristics in federal civil rights laws.
We are here to affirm, uplift, and advocate for transgender and gender diverse youth, and we remain committed to doing all we can to support their care and well-being.
As a professional in the field, have you read the Cass Review?
Or the three recent McMaster led systematic reviews finding that benefit cannot be established as a likely outcome? Agreeing with previous systematic reviews?
"This is a standard of care grounded in scientific evidence, demonstrating its benefits to the health and well-being of transgender and gender diverse youth. "
Where has it been demonstrated? Not anecdotes or we'd all be taking hydroxychloroquine or whatever for covid. That's substandard medicine and surely we all agree these kids deserve better.
Surely you are aware Dr. Tishelman has explicitly said she has no idea how these kids are doing long term, in the Boston globe. Surely you are aware that the surgeries your hospital has done are long term treatments.
Do you know regret times are expected to be 7 years on average? Do you follow up patients that long? You know Chen et al failed to find, after a short time, 2 years, benefit for MTF, had minimal benefit consistent
with placebo for ftm.
Where is this evidence showing it is worth endangering their fertility and function and making other irreversible physical changes on minors?
Of course I've read the Cass Review. I am totally aware of the harms of so called gender affirming care. It's personal. After reading ML's "Tide Pod" post I checked to see if Claire McCarthy, MD was still at Boston's Children's Hospital as her article was from 2018. She is still there yet her hospital is still posting the crap that I copied and pasted above from their website. It's like the left hand doesn't know, or ignores what the right hand is doing. They know full well what they are doing. These people need to be in jail.
#1 Note the poster says "a standard of care" and not "the standard of care". Why? Because there are many different care models and standards, and many other countries are rejecting this one.
#2 Poster says "a standard of care grounded in scientific evidence" and not "based on scientific evidence" Why? Because while there are _some_ studies that show people who lop off body parts have a short-term decrease in depression, there are a lot more studies that show their physical health clearly decreases, and their death rates increases. (See the Cass Report.)
#3 Poster uses the terms "youth" and "patients" rather than "children" to obfuscate. A "Children's Hospital" is focused on minors. Boston Children has treated toddlers.
#4 Poster brings up equity, diversity, inclusivity, workplace discrimination, public accommodation. That is a distraction from the debate about whether it is appropriate to medically trans children.
#5 Poster says there are efforts to ban trans children from participating in sports. A total lie. All efforts are at prohibiting boys from joining girl's sports teams and vice versa (which causes inequity and physical danger to girls and loss of privacy and dignity to all in the locker rooms). Whether these are boys who think they are trans or not, they do not belong in girls' sports. Girls are not therapuetic support animals for boys. Boys can join boys sports, like they always can.
#6 Poster says "The belief that all children deserve the opportunity to live, grow and thrive with love and support, is foundational to who we are and what we do." If they truly believed that, they would not give them medical treatments that destroy their sexuality, and their fertility and cause a 19x increase in premature deaths.
Boston Children's does not 'support' children with discomfort. Instead it implements an unproven 'treatment' with serious lifelong consequences based on a single 2 hour assessment and does not track lifetime outcomes.
"The affirmation model, by prioritising the avoidance of psychological distress over deep self-exploration, may represent a shift away from sound mental health practice. True therapeutic work requires a willingness to engage with pain rather than bypass it. A therapeutic model that encourages exploration of distress, rather than immediate affirmation, offers individuals a more sustainable path toward psychological well-being. Just as parents play a crucial role in helping children navigate emotional distress, mental health professionals should foster resilience through exploratory therapy rather than defaulting to immediate affirmation. Ensuring that individuals receive the support they need to navigate their identity with clarity and resilience is essential for ethical and effective care."
To Boston Children's Hospital: There is nothing "affirmative" about telling unhappy kids that they were born in the wrong body. There is nothing to be "proud of" in ruining their long-term health with body-poisoning treatments and brutal surgeries. There is nothing "supportive," "loving" or "uplifting" about anything you are doing to these young people.
I'm not sure why so many girls believe that removing their breasts make them authentic.
I can't wait for the detransitioner lawsuits to bankrupt the Frankenstein doctors and hospitals participating in this Mengele-like barbarism. The doctors should lose their licenses and spend years in prison for ruining the lives of the confused people who believe their lies.

Absolutely.

Stop. We are all begging you. Stop.
I wish they would stop. It would send a message to the millions of clinics that have sprung up over the last 15 years.
